What if all of our billing is correct and there are no savings from the Audit?

Of course if there are no savings as a result of the utility bill audit (which happens about 30% of the time), there are no fees! However, knowing your Utility Bill inside out is a real advantage. In conducting the audit, we might spot certain areas of energy expense where new technology or recently enacted laws (might) enable your business to lower your energy expense.  If so, we will advise you. What if we decide to wait before we hire you?

If you wait, you may miss some savings. Refunds are only issued when there are errors in billing. A lot of our work identifies opportunities to save money in the future. If you wait 6 months, it may be 6 months of savings down the drain. Why wait? You have nothing to lose. If we aren’t able to find savings for you there is no fee. We share the savings. How long does it take to complete an Audit?
Where do the savings and refunds come from?

The savings and refunds come from identifying and fixing common occurrences of metering errors, rate errors, mathematical and clerical errors, miss classifications, missed incentives, unclaimed credits, duplicate charges and market pricing opportunities. The utility bill audit is the start of the cost saving process. In addition to errors in the utility bill, we often find cost saving opportunities for companies that have high energy expenses due to large amounts of pump and motor usage, expensive lighting costs even natural gas usage.

May we send you a bill to see if you find any opportunities before we officially sign up?

Absolutely Yes! As a matter of fact, we will not undertake an audit, unless we have the opportunity to see a bill in advance and conduct a completely FREE Red Flag Audit to find errors. Once we have received your latest monthly bill, we will contact you, by phone within 48 hours, to let you know if we have found any errors. We want to make absolutely certain there is a real opportunity for our clients to save money, before we move ahead.

How is U.P.S. paid for its services?

All U.P.S. audits are performed on a contingency basis, so there is never an “upfront” charge to the client. We are paid only when our work produces results for the client. If there are no errors and no savings, there is no charge! When the auditing efforts result in savings to the client, those savings are shared between the client and U.P.S. on a 50/50 basis. We bill the utility involved and collect the overcharges for you, going back 3 years. Following the audit, U.P.S. continues to monitor accounts every month for 48 months, to insure no old errors repeat and no new errors occur. (Note: It is not unusual for utilities to change their rates as often as 5 times every year, giving rise to many errors going forward). If no new errors and savings are found, there is no charge. If new errors are discovered, U.P.S. will share 50% of those savings for that time period.

Expense savings typically go right to the bottom line as profit. There is no potential cost, only potential savings. We work on a contingency fee basis, so we share a portion of your savings. If we are unable to help you save on your utility expenses, there is no cost to you. When we are done with our work, you will know that you have received what you are paying for; that you are using what you have paid for; that you are being billed legally and accurately; and that you are on the lowest rates for which you qualify.
